I have so many memories of our family vacations. The best ones are the little 'you had to be there' incidents that we laugh about to this day.
Like the road trip where we stopped at McDonald's and Dad accidentally threw his keys away with the food trash. We couldn't figure out what was taking him so long to get back to the car, until Robyn spotted him with his head buried in the garbage can. Happy ending - keys were found!
And the time we were skipping back from the ice machine at the Disneyland hotel and Mom tripped, sending the ice bucket, ice, and Mom flying down the hall with a loud crash. We were laying in a heap laughing hysterically when Dad opened the door from the room to see what the commotion was. He took one look and went right back in the room and closed the door; his reaction causing another hysterical fit of laughter. Any one of us could reenact the moment on cue for years to come.
As kids, watching super 8 footage of a young Terry touring Navajo ruins while touting Robyn on his back in a huge 70's backpack baby carrier. Inside joke: "Here comes Dad's fruity smile!"
The time we toured Carlsbad Caverns while leaving Robyn upstairs at the childcare facility whose sign said simply read "Nursery/Kennel"
many many more
